faculty as Cadet and Acting Asst. Professor of Latin, 1852-1854; as
Lt. and Asst. Professor of Languages and Asst. Instructor of Tactics,
1855; as Asst. Professor of Mathematics and Asst. Instructor of Tactics,
1856. Lawyer in Culpeper Co. Commanded Culpeper Minutemen. enl. ca.
4/61 or 5/61 as Maj. to Lt. Col. 4/27/62. To Col. 6/3/62. Wded at
2nd Manassas, 8/30/62 and absent recuperating for remainder of year.
Elected to Va. Senate, 1863, but remained with rgt. MWIA at Gettysburg
in jaws, 7/3/63 and POW. d. 7/21/63 at College Hospital, Gettysburg,
Pa. Two brothers also served as Col. of Va. regiments. Great-uncle
to World War II Gen. George S. Patton III.

11/64 in Co. F 7th VA Inf. He was taken prisoner at the Battle
of Five Forks and sent to Pt. lookout with Bazel Haney.
He is buried just outside Stanardsville off Rt 230.
