William Durrer
was born on July 18, 1831 in Rockingham Co., VA. He married Mary E. Dickerson in June of 1851. They had 4 Children: Mary born 1852, George born July 1854, Willie born 1859 and Addie born Oct 1862.

He enlisted in Co. F 7th VA Infantry on March 29, 1862, at Camp Taylor as a Pvt. He fought in 5 major engagements: 2nd Manassas, Antietam, Fredericksburg Gettysburg and the siege of Petersburg. He was wounded at Antietam on Sept 17, 1862. He died of Disease during the siege of Petersburg on June 30, 1864, at Chester Station after 2 years of service to his state.

Eddins gravesite before restoration

What the restorers found at the Eddins site (left).

James Sidney Eddins enlisted 11/64 in Co. F 7th VA Inf. He was taken prisoner at the Battle of Five Forks and sent to Pt. lookout with Bazel Haney.

He is buried just outside Stanardsville off Rt 230.
